Accepts All Major Insurances
Progress in therapy is best made at the individual level in a calm and private environment. Successful therapy involves a partnership between counselor and client that focuses on improvement and progress rather than on stigmatizing pathology. Whether you are in the office or receiving online counseling, I guarantee the most cutting edge and results oriented treatment. This is your life and the right counselor can make all the difference.
Choices is now located in the newly renovated Geistown Professional Building at 2517 Bedford St. After years in Richland on Eisenhower Boulevard it was time to expand and open my new facility. Choices has spacious offices and a bright and hopeful atmosphere. No small offices or tight waiting rooms. Choices offers a top of the line facility to pave the way to your wellness.
The number one benefit of receiving counseling and therapist services at Choices is developing the ability to emotionally ventilate your feelings. It is perfectly natural to feel good some times and bad at other times. You will feel sad on some days and happy on others. In sessions, I always acknowledge and encourage you to feel however you feel. There is a trend in psychotherapy to push people to feel positive and good at all times. When individuals don't feel good fast enough they either blame themselves or the counselor for not helping them feel better. This can doom therapy to failure. The simple truth is that you will not always feel good and sometimes you will have bad days. The important thing is to accurately understand and express the way you feel. Angry, sad, happy or resentful. The only way to process through these emotions is to recognize them and fully feel them. This puts you on the path to mental health and overall wellness.
The intent of therapy is to change your thinking process. If the vast majority of your thoughts are negative, it is only a matter of time before this causes problems in your life. The problems may be complicated, but the solutions are simple. The path to wellness will be laid out for you and it will be your choice what you do next.
Therapist sessions at Choices focus on adapting and changing your thinking in a positive direction. They will also equip you with the ability to identify and evaluate your thinking patterns and change them permanently.
Success rates for therapy vary depending on the type of therapist and the motivation of the individual. When clients follow the SHOW UP-TRY-REPEAT philosophy, it is successful most of the time.
In order for therapy to work, the person must enter the therapy process with an open mind and be prepared to work hard. Depression, Trauma and Anxiety are tough to beat, but I help people do it every day. Success is usually achieved in small, daily, incremental steps. Time will go by no matter what, so why not make the most of it?
The best therapy is typically a blending of a variety of approaches to get you well. I am trained in a number of evidence based psychotherapies and will quickly tailor treatment to your specific needs.
As a fully Certified Trauma Therapist, I am equipped to handle the most difficult of traumas. I have achieved success with severe PTSD, deep and long lasting addiction and difficult to treat depression and anxiety. Call or email any questions and I will respond as soon as I can.
One of the many benefits of Choices is unmatched confidentiality. Stigma and worry about being judged is a big reason why people decide not to get help for mental health issues. At Choices, you don’t need to worry about judgment or stigma. I’ve seen it all and have time-tested and effective methods to quickly help get you well. I started Choices so that individuals could pursue mental health in a confidential and safe environment, and I intend to continue with that philosophy. Whether you are in the office or online from your home your privacy will be protected.
Often times after being discharged from Choices individuals no longer meet the criteria for the various disorders. I always work with the understanding that you are a person with a mental health challenge, not just a diagnosis. People that receive treatment at Choices understand that I go above and beyond to help my clients. I am a small counseling clinic and you are much more than a number to me.
I specialize in trauma based disorders. As you do your research into different counselors it is important to understand how core issues in your past affect your present and possible future. Specializing in trauma means more than just treating traditional PTSD symptoms. It means the fundamental way that I provide treatment is different than many therapists. I understand that your past drastically affects your present. The ability to reflect rather than react can make all the difference with work, marriage and raising children. As you understand your brain more effectively you become better at using your natural talents and will not be guided by fear and anxiety.
