In 2013, Adam established Choices Clinical Counseling with a vision to offer innovative counseling services to highly motivated individuals that desire to improve their lives.


With a robust academic background including a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh, Adam combines theory with practice in an effective way to help his clients.


Bringing over 20 years of versatile experience in mental health across varied settings, he has a deep understanding of different mental health issues and the best ways to address them.

Shanna Handzus, LPC - Clinical Director

  Shanna is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Trauma Therapist. She also has certifications in Life Coaching, Holistic Health Coaching and Wellness Coaching. Shanna specializes in trauma treatment as well as depression and anxiety of all ages. 

 
Along with providing top of the line psychotherapy services, Shanna is the Clinical Director at Choices. She develops, implements, and oversees the clinical services, policies, and programs within Choices to ensure consistency across the board.

 
Shanna’s approach to therapy encompasses the overall wellness of clients while looking at mental health from a holistic and balanced perspective.

Erika specializes in the treatment of anxiety, depression, trauma, personality disorders and mood disorders in children and adults.

Emily has over 10 years experience in mental health. She is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh Social Work Program and still resides in the Pittsburgh area. In undergrad she majored in political science and history with a minor in religion. Emily previously worked at large mental health clinics and has opted to bring her extensive clinical experience to Choices. 


Emily is dedicated to providing services to a range of diverse populations. She is creative, energetic, empathetic and engaging.  Emily has a warm and open personality that will quickly put you at ease. She brings her large clinic skills to private practice.

Having navigated a unique journey of her own, Jennifer is acutely aware of the interplay between physical and psychological health. Her empathetic nature, coupled with her expertise, enables her to provide a supportive and non-judgemental environment that facilitates healing. Her comprehensive range of therapeutic approaches ensures that she meets her clients' individual needs.

She is also open to providing faith-inspired counseling to clients seeking that approach.
